If you are ready for new friends and interests, the Women’s Club of Greater Reston is for you! This is a women’s social organization that has been active in the Reston area for 50 years, founded in 1969. The club welcomes both new and long-standing members in order to promote friendship through participation in various recreational and civic activities. All women (single, divorced, widowed and/or married, working, and or retired) of Northern Virginia, longtime residents and newcomers are welcome to join. We have members from Reston, Vienna, Leesburg, Fairfax, Luckett’s and other surrounding towns.
The Club’s purpose is to extend a friendly, helping hand, to offer the opportunity to make new friends, find camaraderie, and enjoy a variety of creative, social, and recreational activities from June through May. Most activities take place during the week. However, on weekends we offer dinner groups and special events for members and their guests. Members cover their own expenses as well as their guests.
On the second Wednesday of each month, we host a Get Acquainted Coffee at a members’ home for new, longtime and prospective members. These coffees provide a relaxed atmosphere to learn more about the club and to meet new and long-time members. You will meet women with similar interests, and you will be able to find out how to enjoy life in our community. Prospective members wanting to attend a coffee or to learn more about WCGR please send an email through the ‘contact page’.
On the third Thursday of each month (from September thru April) at 9:45 a.m., we hold a General Meeting at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, Reston Community Center at Lake Anne Plaza, Lake Anne, Reston VA. Following the general meeting is a program of interest to our members. Refreshments are served and prospective women members are invited to attend. There is no admission fee.
And each month provides a host of Activities. As a member, you will enjoy Book Clubs, Bridge Groups, Board Game Groups, Needlecraft Group, Mah Jongg Group, Canasta Groups, Luncheons, Dinners, Wine Tastings, etc. We host special events throughout the membership season. We encourage members to support the club by opening up their home to host an activity or a get acquainted coffee. We also encourage members to support the club by participating in luncheons, activities, meetings as well as special events. Members and guests pay their own expenses.
If this is the club for you send an email through the contact page. Our Membership Season is from June 1st one year through May 31st the following year. Please note that many activities due to members’ busy schedules do not meet in the Summer. General Meetings and Get Acquainted Coffees are scheduled September through May. We like to continue socializing through the summer months and members will get together at Kalypso’s at Lake Anne on the Third Thursday of the month for the months June, July and August. No need to RSVP to come to lunch; Kalypso’s graciously provides separate checks for attendees.
