About WCGR

If you are ready for new friends and interests, the Women’s Club of Greater Reston is for you!  This is a women’s social organization that has been active in the Reston area for 50 years, founded in 1969.    The club welcomes both new and long-standing members in order to promote friendship through participation in various recreational and civic activities.  All women (single, divorced, widowed and/or married, working, and retired) of Northern Virginia, long time residents and newcomers are welcome to join.   We have members from Reston, Vienna, Leesburg, Fairfax, Luckett’s, etc.

The Club’s purpose is to extend a friendly, helping hand, to offer the opportunity to make new friends, find camaraderie, and enjoy a variety of creative, social, and recreational activities from September through May.  Most activities take place during the week.  However, on weekends we offer wine tasting, dinner groups and special event parties for members.  Members cover their own expenses as well as their guests.  Some activities may meet during the summer months.

On the second Wednesday of each month (from September thru May), we host a Get Acquainted Coffee at a members’ home for all members, prospective members, and members’ guests.  These coffees provide a relaxed atmosphere to learn more about the club and to meet new and long-time members.  You will meet women with similar interests and you will be able to find out how to enjoy life in our community.    Prospective members wanting to attend a coffee or to learn more about WCGR please send an email through the ‘contact page’ .

On the third Thursday of each month (from September thru April)  at 10 a.m., we hold a General Meeting at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, Reston Community Center at Lake Anne Plaza, Lake Anne, Reston VA.  For most months a Program follows the general meeting.  These programs are geared to our members.  Refreshments are served and prospective members are invited to attend.  No admission fee.  In December and May our General Meeting is a local restaurant where we have a luncheon.  Members pay their own expenses to attend luncheons.

And each month provides a host of Activities.   As a member, you will enjoy Book Clubs, Bridge Groups, Board Game Groups, Needlecraft Group, Mah Jongg Group, Canasta Groups, Luncheons, Dinners, Wine Tastings, etc.  We hold two special luncheons (Holiday Luncheon in December and a Spring/Installation Luncheon in May).   We also host a couple of special events through the season.  We encourage members to support the club by opening up their home to host an activity or a get acquainted coffee.  We also encourage members to support the club by participating in luncheons, activities, meetings as well as special events.
